Through the work of our Elders, Deacons, Disciples Women and Men groups, and the many committees of the church, we are constantly involving members in activities and caring for our members. We care for those not able to come to church through our Shepherding Groups and the Soul Kitchen, and we continue to support the spiritual needs of all our members.
February 2016 Update…
We wanted to let you know that the Soul Kitchen is still alive and well. We have entered our fifth year. Every Thursday we are in the kitchen cooking, serving, and delivering. We have not missed one single Thursday except when it falls on the day before, on, or the day after Christmas. We make sure everyone has plans for the holiday, and if not, we share our own family meal with them. We have prepared over 300 meals this past year for our SouthPark Church family. We post our menu on the cabinet door every week (for our benefit) if you are interested in knowing what we cook. We are in need of a couple of drivers. Our regulars could use a day off now and then or for emergencies. You wouldn’t have to drive every week. Ask Bernie, Nancy, or Betty Bridgewater for all your questions. Thanks so much for all your donations of money, food, and well wishes. We couldn’t do all this without you.
The Soul Kitchen Crew
(If you would like to help serve with the Soul Kitchen by being a driver, please contact Mary Jane.)
The SPCC Card Ministry was initiated at the Leadership Retreat. Each week, the church staff will identify church members that the church family would like to write to, so that we can let them know we are thinking of them. As part of our mission, we want to reach out to every church member. This is one way for SPCC members to have an opportunity to reach out to our members that may not be able to be with us physically. Please join us in signing the cards on Sunday mornings in the Sunday school classes or in the Narthex after Worship.
