This is my last note to you, the congregation of South- Park Christian Church (DOC). I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with you and can hardly
believe
of us to move on in our lives.
I have accepted a call from First Christian Church (DOC) in Wilson, NC and begin there on Oct. 1st. It is a beautiful old church with some great people,
close to the campus of Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian College) and our Regional Office for the Christian Church (DOC).
Wilson is a much smaller community but is well known for its Eastern BBQ, and if you get over that way, call me and we will take a ride out to Parker’s
for some very fine Eastern BBQ. Otherwise, I will not be back to Charlotte except to pass through and wave in the air at you.
I will however, never forget any of you. Nor will I forget your hospitality in opening up your hearts and homes for me. I count all of you as friends
and neighbors, sisters and brothers in Christ, and would be proud to have you in any congregation I might serve in this life. I believe that you are
filled with the Holy Spirit and will seek God’s guidance in the present and future just as you have in the past.
I am filled with happiness that you have come so far in the past year and filled with sadness of the journey yet ahead. It will be filled with love and
heartache, laughter and tears, and most certainly, the presence of the Lord will be there with you. I will not be here with you to cross the Jordan and
take command of the land. I will be near you in spirit and love for the experiences we have shared this past year.
Remember the 4 spiritual truths, 1. I am not God. 2. God is God. 3. I am in God. And 4. God is in me. So go forth and love one another as Jesus has
loved you and so have I. There are so many to whom I owe thanks that it would be a very large note to put all of you in it. So, I will just say thanks
and ?May the shadow of Christ fall on thee. May the garment of Christ cover thee. May the breath of Christ breathe in thee.? (Frederick Buechner)
Peace and Grace,
Sam Fuson,
Intentional Interim Minister
